" Hi I'm Bryan -- pleased to be joined by the new head coach of the UFL team to Las Vegas gym fossil Jim what attracted you about coaching in the US fell."
" Well I elected the people involved with the top. The ownership. The guys that to you know -- put up the money either and they hired. Good football administrative guys and so many of these leagues and run. It is because you make a lot of money in one business does -- you know a lot about the other Pistons which is football business and to get Michael Hughes in other interruptions and two of those guys in the front office they know football and and then they had right concept police stepped down and talked to me about how this league would operate and run."
" How good does that -- level going to be in the newly."
" And a very valuable part of all those so there is a lot of talent out there and especially now with the Arena League and we'll see if there actually are going to come back and not there's no more NFL Europe a lot of pretty good football players on the market."
" Why do you think the -- will survive when so many of the league --"
" Well I think that they start out -- the proper place. And the very from that they get off track and a lot of it has to do with financial discipline. That you gotta know that you're not going to stepped in and if you think you're going to write big checks. Two players. In and that. He's not going to work like that in the past -- will have a good product on the field there will be very good players play in this league. And it will be very good gains but it's not going to compete with the NFL from the names status in the players and some things like that. Innings of financial discipline let the lead grow. And stay with that plane is really where the mistakes have been made that -- goes back to I think sometimes. There are. Real football people that understand football know how to operate in football business. That are running and their run by the older versions of those things and they are successful in making money their own business but this is to propose."
" In November you said Oakland owner Al Davis a letter expressing your desire to coach the Raiders everyone says stay away from the raider organization so why did you want that job."
" Well you know and in the one thing -- in the you know it's like anything else something's wrong that you don't like for the wrong I you know I -- a lot of people. That's apparently does -- and I'll just write letters to that people take it way beyond what really was the bottom line. I worked for. Al Davis and when I worked for I mean I'm not speaking for everybody. And I'm sure there's people who feel one way -- of the people he treated me do that yet no interference he treated me good I can get along with the yeah. I can work -- Is no question I have selective if that was situation I -- work and I think guess some people don't think you can you'll there and then try to put the blame more Al Davis okay. Coached a team and and in -- personally a lot of positive energy in those type of things. My son right now isn't used as special teams coordinator at that the Raiders and you know he's over the ball look that proceed with great outlook on life but I do -- I I worked for a wants and I knew it I injury it was one."
" You also interview with the Rams for their head coaching position house series would discussions with Saint Louis ownership about getting that job."
" Well it was serious and but did -- at the end of the day. I don't agree with that but I think teams. Qualify what they think the need. And as that would have been explained to me they want to -- decency coach. And but they've had successful offensive coaches and -- provisional got into the Super Bowl and Mike Martz got to the Super Bowl they were you know pretty successful along those lines so they are just so happens lot of times. That it's a reaction to just had. If you part of veteran coach and I want to -- if you are younger right orbit coached yeah property debt you want to decency yeah. It's just yeah I don't understand that mentality I don't really you don't. To meet -- that they ask guys that we think right now for our situation as -- coach. And and don't qualify it by. Any type profiling at all it just hire the best guy."
" Jim finally what do you say to critics who believe you're using the -- as a launching pad to get another head coaching position Indiana now."
" But have they don't know me they don't know we make it to say that right now -- that press conference. A lot of people ask me do you think this'll help you or -- some people think it hurt to some people think it has helped. I said this I don't care. I didn't take this job. Looking at the next job might never have my point prior career and right now I'm excited about being a part of the new league and it I don't even I have team. Thought about. You know it may hurt me a lot to do this I don't care it may help me I don't care I do in this they're really enjoy it. I hired a great group of guys in we're really -- a lot of fun coaching in and that's that's we go get it to enjoy it. And I never got into coaching to make money or for the notoriety but I -- for the love coaching and that's exactly what going to be -- coach."
" Jim we appreciate the -- more football -- keep a log on the box board dot com I'm Bryan Webber will he next."
