" We're here with Billy Wagner Red Sox left hander. Billy you are less than one year removed from Tommy John surgery -- back pitching throwing well how we doing physically."
" Physically it's it's like spring training. -- I don't get -- doesn't get too sore but everything has its source of you know they've been great that I come -- get down. You know get a lot of work in and -- a lot of running just to try to get back into that that whole strand a mind of pitching every other day didn't get ready for October and now. Yeah but they've been great for me they've they've given me time to rest they give me. Enough innings that says stay sharp then that it's been pretty fun. How would you describe your stuff right now used to throw 9899. Not quite as hard how would you put. I'm probably a little bit better pitcher better. I still have that mentality of attacking the strike zone that. Fastball has probably a little bit more life and ahead when I did throw harder. But. -- breaking -- a little bit sharper. And I haven't changed him so that allows me to kind of pitch and and have to work the -- little different and buy it I still feel justice. Careful as I did when I was at throwing hard."
" This is not an easy surgery to come back from well documented. When you're going through all the rehab what was on your mind what did you want to come back to accomplish."
" Well I just have to like go to Fred -- my best effort to come back and to be healthy and play out my contract. That I know salad and make it back this quick now but I felt like if I didn't like -- work. No doubt be let him down and be taken advantage of what -- pay me and no motivate myself to work hard interest for anti stayed with me and we worked. You know we're on the Foner he was with me every at -- every day and we talked in. You know just kind of progress had been having setbacks and things. Can move forward and -- you know it just got to that point where I was close enough to --"
" And the opportunity came up to be traded to the Red Sox. At first you're very hesitant. What happened in those final hours to make you change your mind well the whole Heston was just."
" How effective could Abby how how much can -- help them how could I. I league. Take that chance of pitching on that coming up yet to pitch every day or Adam going to come up there and not be effective or contribute to a team like Boston is. Definitely going to the playoffs and we. So in that was the decision I had to make it wasn't about help that wasn't. Certain it was just it's totally about how much did that contribute and what can I bring to this team that it could help in some small way and and Tito and and everybody to sit him. An inning every inning Ito's going to help us out and and they said hey we're not going to force today. To kill yourself and we know what to come back from and you know they've been great."
" Now you've got some milestones in front -- as a closer. Passing John Franco to be the all time saves leader among left handed pitchers. How meaningful is that to you looking ahead to next year."
" Well -- it is but I think ultimate. Goal in the way of pitcher is defined as about winning championships and if if winning a championship in Boston meant not closing next year. You know I think it's worth and so. -- and that's something that and I certainly looked dead if if the win in some hardware to be a little bit bending going out there and -- here and you know then that's. Top lefty closer. You know Spencer. Are great and and -- to sign on up on the stats that. They had that rain would mean mean more to me."
" Last question when this was going on this trade discussions. Couple months at some things maybe now like some of the things you might have said in the same situation. What was your reaction and how are you guys getting along right now."
" You know you know -- not known pat Bowden he seems a whole lot -- off the cuff you know trying to talk just likely pitch I don't -- on the edge. And after meaning that we we talked a lot we M. Yeah I've actually enjoyed him I really see a lot of myself and him and how we compete and how we're aggressive and you know things will come out. In a way not the way we minute. That's -- that's how we pitch -- I mean everything's pushing the envelope trying to do a little bit more and you get it your aggressive and sometimes things that's a long way Philly thanks a lot of good luck and thank you."
