" Hi there -- Barrett to Brock in pleased -- to be joined by Emmy award winning -- member of the puck handling -- Joe Morgan talk baseball -- football today we start with baseball Angels Yankees score up the American League Championship Series of course you call that -- for spots. What are your keys for each team in areas that they wanna. Well I mean it. The keys are always pitching I mean I don't care how good the lineup is you're talking about two very good lineup in the Yankees -- as good as it gets almost one through nine definitely one through rate. But if you don't have sabathia hot and -- Burnett doesn't do what he's supposed to do or if the Angels have a bad game black the year have a bad game from Weaver right on through their rotation. You're probably not gonna win I mean pitching wins in October and not just pitching but our pitching and both teams have it. And we'll see come Friday night who's pitching is more ready and then who ends up on top. And of course in the nationally rematch of last year's NL -- the Phillies take on the Dodgers. By the time series starts LA we'll have had five full days off would need to -- an advantage or does it. Well I think -- series goes longer than the other one doesn't in this case it was four games in the division series for Philadelphia and they went through their rotation with the top guy again tonight you don't have Cliff Lee. At the beginning they'd loved to have gone three and out and cliff fully rested ready to go for game one. But they start the series with Cole Hamels -- very good himself and you know was the MVP last year during the World Series so. It's not a huge drop off the Dodgers are different situation I mean their their top. End of the rotation probably isn't as dynamic as Phillies. But the bullpen is outstanding and so there's balance there with those two pitching staffs. And then to lineup that can hit and and two lines that are very deep and so I'll look for a long series in the you know Austria as well. You know 2002 the Cardinals lost two prominent figures in their organization of course your dad Jack Buck and pitcher Darryl Kile passed away. There's the Angels they lose a couple of members of their family. Longtime baseball -- Preston Gomez and pitcher nick -- hard. He's like that kind of impact does that have an organization. Well I think that the common denominator. And probably something we'll talk about during the mail -- Is that they've both have. Very strong managers. It took a lot from La Russa to get their team focused and really my dad's death was a part of that but it was Darryl Kile and the shock of you know going to the stadium one day -- fielding and everybody getting phone calls -- his words there'll. And it turns out that he passed away at a hotel room many go through this this year with the Angels and negate art. It talk for these guys to rebound because they're all they all think they're invincible. They're young guy and it takes a special kind of manager to get everybody focus the Angels it took while. For them to overtake Texas in the -- last. Once they did. They ran away with the division and so. I think both managers handled it very well you know two -- Russa and here in 2009 Scioscia and the Angels. I talk about versatility will go from they bought a football now that you're going to be Judd Denver Broncos Cincinnati Bengals to that early surprises in the NFL. Which which is the bigger surprise he. Probably Denver. Because what you think I'm Josh McDaniels -- We got there and seemingly within five minutes it is franchise quarterback one doubt it was gone in Jay Cutler. They got Kyle Orton nobody thought that much of Kyle Orton certainly Chicago it and because he was great as a rookie 105. And that on the bench line Grossman he's played very well not spectacular but they haven't asked him to be spectacular. No shot -- been great running back the defense from Mike Nolan running it has been. Sensational. And Josh McDaniels 32 when he took over 33 now looks like a genius and just beat bill Belichick's so. You know that that's a really good story in the NFL Cincinnati's right there while they could be undefeated. If not for a weird deflection and a game loss to the Denver Broncos though. Clearly in the AFC if not in the NFL in general those those are really compelling stories. Talk about some red hot teams -- the Colts and the Giants both off to five you know start. Too early to start thinking about media Manning Brothers Super Bowl here. I don't think too early would be exciting and you know I think that those are probably -- its top two teams in the two conferences. The Giants can be with their running game Eli acting looks better than ever pass. He looks more solid I've always got the foot issue and then Peyton Manning's doing what he does every year and -- guy is. Incredible and he runs that offense basically calls that offense he runs he runs that team in to a large degree. And and so yeah -- not too early but there's a lot of football players in the Saints are good the Falcons are good. You know obviously the Colts here he'll either hurtful."

" Well we're talking accomplished quarterbacks Brett Favre and the Vikings have all gotten off to a 50 start the guy just turned forty last weekend it it doesn't look like this a real toned down version of Brett Favre. It's the same guy we saw sling it around about a decade ago. How impressed dream but -- Favre plays so far this season."

" I'm really impressed I mean you. Think about the fact that he you know. Basically forty he had surgery on his arm he finished the year last year really struggling he says it's because his arm was not healthy. Maybe you're right I mean beginning of the year with the Jets he was the story in the NFL in new York and so now he is in Minnesota he's got a different team around him I mean. They've got a really good smothering defense and got a great ground game with a best running back in in the NFL. In Adrian Peterson David good offensive line David good tie it and there's a lot there in Minnesota's got to be considered one of the best all. -- an elite team double Major League base ball as well as master card tell us about battle lines. Yeah it it's called stand up to cancer that he organization. And it's exciting because -- donated a thousand dollars. For every home run hitter in the post season they've been MasterCard. Teamed up with -- Major League Baseball every home run hitters thousand dollars and then during game three of the World Series coming up. Somebody player on running a banner in the outfield as it is here is a million dollars four cancer research groundbreaking cancer research. Everybody wants to know more to click away stand up to number two cancer or."

" I Joe Buck we appreciate the time has always been just a friendly programming reminder here you can catch Joe along with Tim McCarver. Call in the ALCS on fox beginning on Friday. October 16. I'm Daryl Brock. A year next."
