" For instance it's. This week and coach speak -- Brian Billick presented by -- John Fox breaks down Jake DelHomme bounce back game against the Cardinals. Mike McCarthy will assess Brett Favre returned to Lambeau Field. Wade Phillips will get you ready for the Cowboys -- out when the Eagles. And Rex Ryan will tell us where he thinks his team stands at the halfway point of the season all -- and coach -- Brian Billick presented by Samsung."

" I'm Brian Billick and welcome to this week's edition coach they've got a really great show for that as usual number of coaches come off some big wins. We're talking John Fox after big win in desert against their zone. And talk Detroit Lions coach Jim Schwartz. Coming off by Jim zorn Washington Redskins getting ready for the Atlanta Falcons. Mike McCarthy -- huge emotional battle they had in Green Bay -- Minnesota Vikings New York Jets head coach Rex Ryan. We're gonna get a chance to talk to Wade Phillips after big win against the Seattle Seahawks both would talk about how you can address the dreaded turnover and."

" What you could do is an individual and his team to try to prevent those. Talk show with our good friend Mike McCartney from the Green Bay Packers obviously my huge huge game almost a playoff. Atmosphere. Too and I can't remember regular season game that Mary may be brought as much. Height and pomp and circumstances interest is this one we saw him today."

" Blogger of the government have operative played a couple playoff games here so for Lambeau. The Dempster. Yes and they made -- rivaled. Put the crow was exceptional. -- Mr. reliably you know the ways of emotional moment swings -- football game. I'm sure is a great game watched on TV news is orchestrated. It is a fun game play in the fourth -- one -- And I just to more more impressed or retirement here and play. Jerry's is good young player you know it's like everybody -- things work on. Things. He's got a brand has all the ability in the mental the mental part of its own games slowed down for which Rose for those -- about it so. Lessons from the coach."

" Down mentally -- that you're right that mental toughness thing it's something that you really. A lot times -- are put in the position really until the mental toughness and hold up on real circumstance but the mental toughness of being able to carry a team. That's two different you know self preservation versus taking care of the people around me that's two different types of toughness."

" Absolutely. There's -- like experiencing gonna go through and that's really -- them. Policy he has shown and they could benefit from with those two contests against Minnesota would go for most for a whole football thing we're still relatively young and yeah."

" Exactly right in and drawn on a matter of fact that you're going gain some from this is painful it is right now that you is subject to build on going forward can be in the big game like that that compare wrote that been you know. Dividends if you get into the playoffs can do it doesn't get much bigger than."

" What all the hubbub of going and it will be -- full well full bowl atmosphere that's for sure we'd go to big doses of that --"

" Do you worry about -- or anything that you do when you know your team has emotionally gone through win or lose. What did last week and all of the circumstances around it. And then win or lose. Do you worry about -- and emotional fatigue to the point where now that next week there's things that you do to maybe back off a little bit or let them kind of recoup. Emotionally recognizing that that was that was a lot to go through."

" Again a great point on and you went through and forget broad. The biggest part of the head coach position is keeping your -- and -- your football team and every everything we're doing practices. Is recorded as far as the practice time that the the tempo the pace of the on the practice again as much information as you can on where your football team is and I think the pace of practice is using -- pretty good indicator. Upon you could come awful lot of all the talk we can like this so. It's on tonight -- spent a lot of time with the unknown is only coaches to. In the scheduling it is illegal to that that's on the contest if you do have to make adjustments and and everything good in the got to trust to fill in unit trust what do you think his -- football team."

" Primark that'll do what I appreciate it -- Brian it was on drug -- a good friend Rex Ryan in New York Jets Rex you know I'm kind of in the stat. And -- you're killing me. You're absolutely killed -- I keep. Look at your Buffalo -- couple weeks ago 318 yards rushing I look I'm looking at the stats sheet right now. This that you just can't explain that talked me about how it felt during the game when you're playing as what was your plan. And then have things happen it happened."

" That's just you know it's just amazing and it reminded me though remember we played Saint Louis that one time and and they scored like thirty some points and and a 130 total yards. It's just it was like the perfect storm I -- we we weren't on the field. The defense wasn't on the field for 21 of those points unanswered points you know they -- three yards and a quarter. In three plays and you know so the thing that is amazing to me is that our our team. Still had it a chance to win this game even though the all of that we gave three touchdowns away that -- clearly Miami deserved you know they aren't."

" You're coming up on -- and obviously from physical standpoint you need the rest but. And and it happens to coincide at the midway point -- forms for. First talk about what you hope to get done with the blind and what do you guys do as a staff. To try to isolate some of those things of the players come back you can say okay here's the tour three things were really don't get done going forward."

" Well. We're definitely getting the players -- we're giving them like six days off in the they're coming back no work Monday all the way through to Sunday's Sunday's game. But I wanna get them refreshed don't wanna get them. Ready to go where they can't wait to come back in the office and and in let's move forward but I wanna get you know won the and then to get away from football. Initially from their perspective and as far as the coaches are concerned. Like we're we're treating each other like the opponent our profits of coaches or break it down the defense the defense coach. Break it down our offense and -- we're actually attack him like the game. So hopefully we can get some some pointers there you know in this by now we've we've got to figure for a who we are but let's see if -- are we given. You know our. Every coach in the weeks in a break this down they seem tendencies that we're doing one and and maybe there's some things that we can switch up the helpless. I meant I appreciated our right take care."

" When we come back we'll talk turnovers and apply -- coach Jim Schwartz that in war with coach speak with Brian Billick presented by Sampson continued. Seasons -- the troops and Afghan."

" It's. Welcome back to coach speak you know every year you have you go through a slump in one form or another in terms of dealing with turnovers whether he fumbles or interceptions. You can't just simply tell the individuals involved don't fumble don't thrown interception you need to give them something hang -- In Billick 101 Warren talk about the things that you can do to help the team addressed turnover problems."

" We've long talked about how explosive plays and turnovers. Through the major determinant of that. When you're going through a tough stint as an offense -- his fumbling the ball up throwing interceptions. It's not enough as a coach to sit with those guys we can't fumble the ball. We can't throw interceptions that's what you're veterans look -- you guys kind of -- really. Does that settle you got coach because you know what I pretty much no not that we don't want to fumble the ball and receptions she really you have to make -- team. He turned the fumbles this week things you do first off court -- secured. He's talking about the three pressure points handled the ball squeezed the ball in the body securing meal that's an individual. That you wanna put -- on the team as well can't have free runner. You provide your offensive line tight in your other league's best running back -- wide receivers we can't have someone running three because of mr. Simon. Blowing tobacco before he's ready to give him. And it finally you have to incorporate wide receivers got a rally to the ball. One keep that extra hit lay off the running back secondly if the ball should come out you need to rally beer maybe jumble fumble. We've retained possession of the ball. Terms of interceptions obviously begins with the quarterback don't force the ball. All right secondly now go back to a team wide receivers. The do right principle people you're supposed to -- what you're supposed to do their. Do what you're supposed to be doing so often a quarterback has betrayed because the receiver vocal route to a certain way what's the that the proper depth. Did something that made the quarterback horrible but he. Then threw the ball in and the ball -- or maybe he wasn't where it belongs and defender steps in front. And then finally with regards interceptions you as a coach just take responsibility. Look at the routes -- you're throwing for instance. Jake -- In Carolina has had difficulties with interceptions rightfully offense -- because they do a lot of play action -- that turned his back to the so I'm having trouble with Jake DelHomme throwing interceptions I'm gonna minimize those plays why I'm asking him to turn himself his back to the defense. Now come out of line and throw between the hash is -- maybe let him focus on routes that are on the outside. So that we don't put him in me. Highly complicated route. You really can't see what he's coming out of after one."

" You know John viewed as you know I did the game was it was enjoyed watching guys play I gotta imagine John Nolan the way you want to win games in the way you put that team together that has to be the prototypical -- that's when you won."

" Bottle up and keep repeat and -- no doubt Brian you know we've struggled all season in the first six weeks of the season as far as. You know turn it over we turn it over 21 times for minus fourteen and turnover margin. In those -- either we're probably fortunate we won two of those six games so. You know going into yesterday that was going to be using his very good Arizona team. You know when we were familiar -- that they were familiar with us and you know that's where we gotta do it as we were built to do -- and our guys it was a tribute to our players. In on all three phases. That we really get that W yesterday."

" If you if you wouldn't mind maybe share a little bit about some of our conversation from Saturday. About your attitude going into the game with regard to Jake two turnovers are you were. Your focus was more about supporting him that benching him in just some of things you were trying to get done so as not to let the turnover thing overwhelming."

" Well those are pretty touchy thing you know he'll -- head coach you know whenever he's their quarterback situation comes -- In all of the media the people on the outside really jump all of that and you know Jake there's no doubt in my mind Jake is our quarterback wasn't it you know as a quarterback going into the last week. He always just a matter of making sure. You know his mindset was right and talk and let them. You know our our our -- football team you know they took it to heart you know what just Jake whenever you're struggling and some days -- on that -- He doesn't averages one guy. They got that they've responded and you know I think it help our football team is forcibly taken responsibility go into the game yesterday and -- was tremendous he's a great competitor very tough -- again."

" As big as this win was for yet. The last couple minutes that game I I told Doug Chris -- broadcast partner I guarantee you Jones already thinking about that Norman's."

" Well I Devlin was you know as you look at his schedule as you all know -- look ahead but. You know if you get that he brings you do look ahead and you know I knew going out there is on and going to go to new Orleans back to back -- a tough spot and you know we were able to get that one yesterday it was a good performance by our team and you know it's gonna take. A similar type of effort to get anything done in New Orleans."

" Right sounds great -- I appreciate him and great win I'll see you next week sounds good bye and we'll see you and -- Under good luck charm now hey guys did you Jets game to you know or will take it all we can get and."

" Now it's time for how I see it presented by Samsung. Nor did that part of the season it's always very interest to you start out the season and it's all about winning your division because that's the guaranteed way of getting in the playoffs. But as we approach midway part. You can see that there are certain divisions where that lead dog is creating separation. Whether it's team like the Denver Broncos in the AFC. Well obviously New England possibly in the if if you. In the NFC south you've got a really good Norman saint team. We've got to be careful it's always have to go watch transition because you're constantly making sure your players understand. They don't wanna get so focused on that front the team as they get 12 maybe three -- games out in front of them. And the players start to feel like oh my gosh we've got no chance winning the division. It's amazing how much you do have to school your players up -- look there's other ways to get in the playoffs here so let's keep in mind. Who our competition is now and how that's gonna happen -- you end up actually kind of watching the rupture of the conference's recognizing that your gonna be competing for now made that fifth and sixth spot in the playoffs you don't give up on the dream awarded the division. But it's amazing how often that the subtleties of what it takes to get to the playoffs is sometimes lost on the players and you've got to school them up a little bit. To show them the numbers that this is still very doable for them. I'm Brian Billick this is my stance on LED and that's how I see. I'm joined by Jim Schwartz had coached Detroit Lions Jim talk a little bit about as a defense. Some of the things that you do the typically whether -- pressures. Spy people trap defense is what are some of the things. That when you know you've got to force a turnover or you've got a team that maybe is vulnerable to that something you might do defense we'd -- the team in."

" Turnovers I think the one place that you can. Consistently try to get turnovers. Is attacking the quarterback. Particularly when you can make him move and what we were try to do is find a position that the quarterback wasn't comfortable moving. You know a lot of right -- quarterbacks have a hard time going to -- left. You know some album. You can bait them into going there right and Bernard guy around the net and try to Tom hall of football. I'm so you can trap the the pass for a little bit with some of those at a time he's sacked the quarterback you've got to really high percentage of chance to forces turnover. That you can do is like you mentioned before try to trap coverage. Blitz all of a side but also roll coverage that aside and the quarterback wants to try to throw into the bill what debated. Here you give a corner chance to jump -- routes are protected him over top. You know anything else you're just sort of hoping to get lucky you know chop -- ball -- the ball. Typically those things are low but all schedules are more the result of an open field play them actual game won't be."

" You that Calvin Johnson hurt for a little bit here how how does that mean -- interest. Throw the next guy and -- you know okay he's under the Calvin Johnson does how much do you have to account for the loss of star player like that in your game plan."

" take a lot because you know he affects our passing game but he'll also affects our run game you know the ways that people have to defend him. To make sure they don't -- a seventy yard touchdown or an eighty yard touchdown. Opens up things not just radio receivers before the running game. And you know there's a reason that you know those guys are specialized are hard to replace so when he's now when an injury. You can replace him as a player you can replace him in the game. But defense is don't offend that person in the same way so it doesn't. You know there's there's there's terms like synergy and things like that or one player makes another batter Calvin is one of those players who makes you reporters that are around."

" Still a double analyse now the Cowboys plan to slow down Eagles quarterback Donovan McNabb -- more than coach -- Brian Billick continued. And wounded troops and yeah."

" Prime joined by the head coach the Washington Redskins Jim zorn and in RC it's star presented by Sam's Club segments. RC -- this week -- is is Albert Haynesworth talk about what a difference it makes for your defense to have that kind of inside presence."

" I didn't really realize what it was gonna do until he got here and he started really pushing the pile inside. And it what it does it just collapse -- things not only in the run game it disturbs blocking schemes and combinations. But he so big and powerful he he pushes the inside of the pocket he. And it allows those outside in to really come around the corner. And the quarterback can't step up quite as comfortably as he had a year ago. In and it -- wrote it I. It's also risen the abilities. It seems risen the abilities of everybody else on our defense of line."

" Yeah I'm -- warm warm and watching games every talks about the great outside pass rushers in pressure on the quarterback but yet time and again just have disrupted that it disrupted it is. To get a guy in the quarterback's face that he can't just step up in the pocket away from."

" Yeah it disturbs the rhythm of that play for that QB to be -- to get rid of Larry feels like he has to get rid of the ball over senator. He feels a little more confined because he not only can't step up but he can't go outside either so lot. And makes a big difference now we also in this is. The ability that. Albert has -- we've actually put him added defensive end position where he is bull rushed. Tackles who we you know who would have a smaller guy on him and to have 340 pounds trying to bull rush you it's that's a hard anchor."

" Thanks for your time gym next up -- Dallas head coach Wade Phillips getting ready for their big NFC east matchup against the Philadelphia Eagles and of course that means Donovan McNabb. We asked all the coaches about the dynamic player."

" You can make all the throws from the pocket but he can also make those rules on the -- well. See you know you're always you know fearful of that him via an extra time to make throws -- very very experienced quarterback -- how much he has seemed so that's you know that's priceless. Thank -- and heads is that the abilities really really well. And please he's got good things it takes more than just a little touch him now in the ground -- himself alive. Yeah he's big enough to withstand hits in the pocket so that's that's the great thing."

" Don McNabb is is truly one of those you need guys that certainly he's a good athlete and his ability to make plays outside the pocket. As is typical of an athletic quarterback. Really stretches you as a defense but the thing that separates him I think is his ability. And the way he's developed impeachment within the pocket. He's one of those guys that you fear each week you go -- and plan and it's like. You know all of it and we will get through this game as -- as a special player that way. You know -- even after all the coaches wage you've got you've got a big match up obviously course every game's a big matchup -- we all play and a the Philadelphia Eagles talk a little bit about what it is particular from the defense aside. We have to defensive player like Donovan McNabb."

" Well you know let's our quarterback here that through commodity I mean. Special commodity. You've got a real good one that. They make plays -- other guys don't like of course he's always he's done that for a long time he moves around. Sometimes Enron -- LeBeau elected in earlier this move around fine receiver and and making a big play that normally would be a play at all."

" What's. Win win particular wing talk about the NFC. He and and just it's such a good division and you guys spend so much time beating each other up. Talk about that quality of the that we -- division at that good."

" Well it makes it tough on everybody because his. I read he beat each other Arab and actually you you. Calls from losses. You know that's that's the problem the last terriers. We haven't had a team with a losing record in our division so. You know Washington's struggle a little bit right now but they've come on at the end of the year the last couple years I expect them to do better than ago so. You know several of your losses or in your division nobody has gone through this division. I think his twelve years or so. Unblemished. You're gonna you're gonna take some sort of action division."

" You know when you and kind of watch it from a little bit of the distance and and -- with a merchant Tony Romo. And you listen all that no voice and that's exactly what it is it's noise that surrounds. Someone like Tony he's on pace for right now and and where close to halfway through the season sort I think it's a legitimate observation. He's on pace for 27 touchdown nine interception season. That's pretty darn good it you know when you hear Tony -- was named it doesn't feel like that. Because of all the things that come down talk a little bit about those types of pressures on Tony."

" Well hits that I north of Dallas Cowboys. -- wrong moment when you had. When I compare it two of the guys preceded that proceeded you you know that's that's where the problem commands like coach and when -- for you know when I was at Buffalo and compare me and Marv Levy and has a lot tougher when when that compared to. You know out of Troy Aikman and and Meredith and solve and all those. You know yeah there's more. People want long want to be just because those yet I think Tony is gonna have a great career. But they weren't right now and that's are."

" good luck will go all be watching should be greeted as a bigger again the report. If you have any questions from B or one of the coaches you can email coached -- at fox dot com follow -- on Twitter coaches. -- with benefits continues on Wednesday with a college experiment with they have on hand for."

" sleep on the politics here. Think college football experience I've never seen it. Okay."

" Well that's it for this week's version of coach -- join us next week we're gonna kind of take your unique approach sort of talked to a number of coordinators next week. Talk about game planning from that level from that perspective should be very good -- you join us next week next Tuesday on coach speak. Want the benefits on foxsports.com."
